The department are members of Resolution - First for Family Law, a highly respected and influential grouping of lawyers who are committed to a Code of Conduct that encourages solicitors to "deal with matters in a way designed to preserve people's dignity and encourage them to reach agreement".
Head of the department, Mark Hepworth and associate Nina Banerjee have both achieved national recognition as Accredited Specialists within the field of Family Law, of which only a handful practise in North Yorkshire.
Nina is also a fully trained family collaborative lawyer and a member of the York Collaborative Family Law Group and the North England Collaborative Family Lawyers. Collaborative Law allows you and your former partner to reach shared solutions and agreements away from the Court, giving you more control of the situation. You and your former partner sit down with your own solicitors in the same room and work through issues together face-to-face. The aim is to reach the best solutions for you and your family.
Mark's specialist areas are cohabitation and Court advocacy, whilst Nina specialises in financial and Children Act proceedings.
The family department does not undertake Legal Aid work but will discuss flexible approaches to funding that recognises client's individual circumstances.
Recent satisified clients have said:
- "Thank you so much for the professional way you have dealt with my case. The manner which you have conducted and handled my case...has really been first class."
- "Thank you very much for your help and guidance throughout this difficult period. I have also admired your approach, which has been to keep costs to a minimum as well as being sensitive to my needs. I certainly feel that you had my best wishes at heart."
