Various employment rates and limits are changing today, 1 February 2012. If you have HR responsibilities in the workplace, ensure that you are well informed about the changes.
For example:
- the maximum week's pay for calculating statutory redundancy payments and the basic award in an employment tribunal will increase from £400 to £430.
- the maximum unfair dismissal compensatory award will increase to £72,300 from £68,400 and the basic award cap will increase to £12,900.
The rate increases taking effect today mean that the maximum unfair dismissal award will now be £85,200. However, there will still be no limit to the amount of compensation that can be awarded for unfair dismissal claims relating to health & safety, whistleblowing or discrimination.
